Science & Technology
All students at NEIS participate in weekly Science and Technology lessons, utilising a range of resources. Our Computer Lab is used to promote and develop technology skills, ranging from basic word processing up to enhancing documents, research and PowerPoint creation. Students are exposed to a wide range of online and commercial educational software. All students soon become proficient in accessing the net for a variety of purposes. Exposure to the Internet is tightly controlled to ensure that students operate in a safe environment at all times. Technology lessons are enhanced by the use of iPads as well as Windows Operating Systems. The convenient location and volume of computers means that all students can access a computer on a daily basis.
Science study is complimented by 'Museum in a Box' resources, a different one each term. Topics covered this year include: Birds, Penguins, Dinosaurs and Platypus. The boxes contain a great array of specimens, posters, DVD's and reference books. For further information on this valuable resource, please visit: http://australiamuseum.net.au/museum-in-a-box During the three years at NEIS, students will study twelve boxes, exposing some students to animals they would never otherwise encounter. Content also includes alternative study of our natural world, as per the curriculum.
Excursions utilise Narrandera's features such as the Wetlands, the Fisheries Centre, Narrandera Park and Koala Habitats.
Narrandera East Infants aims to stimulate the enquiring mind, pose challenges and expose students to as many concepts as possible relating to our physical world and technology.
